At the 1994 annual awards dinner given by the American Association for Forensic Science, AAFS President Don Harper Mills astounded his audience in San Diego with the legal complications of a strange death. Here is the story:

This seems funny if not for the associated tragedy. Unlike Michael, I’ve come across this for the very first time and am pretty much baffled by the strangeness and the complications of what would have been a straightforward suicide.
And it seems the luck was on Mr. Ronald Opus’s side since he did manage to succeed in his ultimate aim despite the obstacles that were laid out for him.
I really wonder if he was (deep down) counting on surviving the attempt. In that case, hard luck!
